PEGI ratings are set to get colourful if a new ELSPA scheme is adopted by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport...

traffic lights

As the British government prepares to conclude its consultation on game rating reforms next month, ELSPA has revealed a plan to redesign the current PEGI ratings system for games around a traffic light warning index.

While ELSPA insists that this decision was influenced by similar warning systems on the front of food products, the traffic light system has been put to use by the BBFC (ELSPA and PEGI's adversaries in the ongoing game ratings debate) for over 20 years.

The government Department of Culture, Media and Sport is set to conclude its consultation on these and related matters on November 20th, with a final decision due next year.
