Capcom confirms that a beta for the long-awaited 'Remix' will be on Xbox Live only...

Last week, Capcom announced that an eight week beta of Super Street Fighter II HD Remix would be packaged with the release of Commando 3 on Xbox Live Arcade.

Naturally, PlayStation 3 owners have been wondering when they'll get a chance to take part in a beta ahead of the long-awaited launch of the game. Speaking on the Capcom forums however, one senior executive of the publisher, Vice-President of Strategic Planning & Business Development, Christian Svensson, has revealed that there a PS3 beta will not be taking place due to resource constraints.

Explaining that the budget for the game has already been increased, "to accommodate our dedication to its quality and the new features," Svensson also confirmed that, "there were even a few we wanted to do that had to get cut in the end... more on that in a post mortem blog or something."

Part of the issue also seemed to have been the logistics of getting a beta on PlayStation 3, with the three targeted territories of Europe (presumably all PAL regions), North America and Asia/Japan all requiring separate submissions. Xbox Live only requires one submission to reach its global audience.

Svensson went on to reaffirm Capcom's dedication to the PlayStation 3, stating that, "We [Capcom] treat the PS3 extremely seriously. To date, we are still the only third party publisher doing cross platform, simultaneous digital releases...Believe it or not, this is not easy and to suggest we aren't treating the PS3 as important would be ignorant of what we're doing for it."

Eventually, both the costs of doing the PS3 beta and the extra time that it would have taken were the deciding factors: "[It] probably would have pushed the project back another few months on our side," adding, "I suspect you guys would still like to play this title in this calendar year."

Yes Mr Svensson, we would...

Sorry, but I feel that the Live subscription is worth it - the stability of the servers is very high, and for £40 a year it's a bargain!

Love the way it says anonymous coward :) Great to see fanboys posting really funny comments, great sense of humour guys, HA HA HA. Just to set you straight I have a 360 and a PS3 they both have their merits but im just annoyed because my xbox membership ran out after spending 20 mins trying to cancel my account and"unlink" my credit card from renewing automatically. XBL is overpriced and its not like microsoft need the extra $, PSN is free, I wasnt fussed about membership to XBL because in all honestly, I wanted it on PS3, yes fanboys you heard me right PS3, and why? you may ask. Because the pad is better for old school beat em ups, thats it, the pad. But now im annoyed because I either 1. Wait for the release of the PS3 version, or 2. Get some XBL and buy the XB360 version. And stop [#@!?]ing, you cant have an opinion of something you obviously dont own, Peace :)
