Super Smashes Bros Brawl becomes the fastest selling game in Nintendo of America's history...
Super Smash Bros Brawl has sold 1.4 million units in its first week of sales in America, with 874,000 of those sales coming on day one. According to Nintendo of America, that's 120 unit sales per second (we'll trust their "math") between the 9th March release date and a week later on the 16th.
This makes it the fastest selling Nintendo game in history for the region. The figures also confirm that SSBB has sold faster in the US than Japan, where a million unit sales of the game were announced eleven days after its release.
"Super Smash Bros. Brawl has made the leap from video game to cultural phenomenon," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing. "Game reviewers and the public alike praise its fun gameplay and extensive, inventive content."
