Mario and chums heading the way on the Nintendo DS…

If proof was needed that the DS can easily reproduce the visual quality of Nintendo64 titles then this is certainly it, as Mario and chums step up to show their tricks on Nintendoâ??s new handheld.

Dubbed Super Mario 64x4 the game takes the famed castle area in Super Mario 64, chucks in a few new twists, challenges four players to link up wirelessly and take control of Mario, Luigi, Yoshi and Wario as they explore the area looking for stars.

Whilst the second screen is once again used as a glorified map, it does have some new qualities such as tapping it to switch the perspective over to another character, or getting a closer look at certain parts of the castle.

Weâ??ll have more information soon.
