Microsoft lifts the lid on its video-conferencing package…

Having watched the success of EyeToy for Sony and hearing the rumours regarding a similar peripheral for the GameCube, Microsoft today rolled out the Xbox Live! Video Chat device and confirmed that it will release firstly in Japan and follow to other territories.

The Xbox Live! Video Chat package allows up to five people to indulge in video-chatting shenanigans, and comes complete with a Camera, Xbox Live! subscription, Xbox Live! Communicator and a Chat Network Disc for the equivalent of £35.

Users of the system can modify a variety of aspects including backgrounds or music for their conversations, whilst itâ??s also possible to make use of the Voice-Masking techniques from Xbox Live! and also activate the vibration function on other peoples controllers â?“ ooo er missusâ?¦

Currently Microsoft have yet to confirm a release outside of Japan, however we expect an announcement shortly.
