Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

LucasArts has today confirmed global first week sales for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, with the latest title from the 'House that George Built' topping 1.5 million copies - a record for any Star Wars game, and a record for LucasArts as a company.

The game, which sheds light on Darth Vader's secret apprentice between the events of Episode III and Episode IV, had proved something of a challenge for LucasArts. The internal studio had to deal with the technological challenge of getting three third-party middleware products, Digital Molecular Matter, Euphoria, and Havok Physics, to work together and deliver what their 'next-gen' vision for the famed brand.

"The record-setting sales of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed shows the undiminished power of Star Wars and its popularity across all media types, including video games," said Darrell Rodriguez, president of LucasArts. "We're blown away by the response to the game."

The Force Unleashed is currently available on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, with PS2 and Wii versions produced by Krome Studios. Handheld editions on PSP and Nintendo DS are also available.

I just have to say the demo was awesome and I can't wait to get my hands on the final copy, only problem I had was that the demo ended as quickly as it began lol

Talk about dropping the ball for the Wii...I'm a HUGE SW fan, and have been for a long time now. Ever since SOE messed up Star Wars Galaxies, I've not played any of the games, save for the LEGO ones (which barely count). I was truely hoping for the Wii version to capture the Lightsaber movement, and I'm VERY suprised that they are planning on completely half-assing on this aspect. Boo. Enough said.
