Spike Video Game host tweet-teases a new Star Wars game for the forthcoming awards...
Speaking ahead of the Spike Video Game Awards, host Geof Keighley has suggested that a new Star Wars game will be unveiled at the show.
The fact that LucasArts are banking on Star Wars is hardly surprising, given the less-than-glowing reception to its attempt to launch an original IP with Fracture. But what Star Wars game could it be?
The fact that a pretty comprehensive Star Wars: Battlefront III was in development at Free Radical Entertainment suggests the groundwork has already been laid on that one. It's also likely that LucasArts would want to build on the commercial success of Star Wars: Force Unleashed, which became the best selling game to be based on the iconic franchise.
Of course, there's also a vocal group hoping that for a true offline sequel to Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords; although given that The Old Republic is still in the works this seems the least likely. There could also be a slimmer of a chance that a new Rogue Squadron from the now defunct Factor 5 could still be in the pipeline. Despite the muddied situation surrounding the former developer, it was widely believed that the studio was working on such a title along with a new PilotWings title for Nintendo.
It could also be a completely original title; we're putting our hopes on bulls-eyeing womp rats in an on-rails Wii shooter... or maybe not!
Either way, all be revealed on December 12th along with the world's first look at Halo: Reach.
