Virgin Megastore To Open Its Doors To The Sith News

By Jon Wilcox on 26/04/2005 Virgin Megastore in Oxford Street, London to sell new Star Wars game from midnight on May 4th (guess the pun)...

That’s right – May the fourth be with you! Virgin Megastore has announced that it’s Oxford Street store will be open on May 4th 2005 at one minute past midnight to launch the Xbox and PlayStation2 versions of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

Following the plot of the film, the adaptation allows gamers to control Jedi Knights Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker as they begin the final journey to meet their respective destinies.

Darth Vader and Stormtroopers will be on security duty that night so any troublemakers will be struck down by a blaster shot or two, with the first 50 customers receiving a StarWars goodie bag. The night will also feature a best costume competition with the five winners receiving a lightsaber from the game’s publisher LucasArts. The result of a Star Wars poll will also be made with the lucky winner receiving a 7 day holiday to Orlando, Florida through Virgin Holidays, as well as tickets to Disney World who are throwing Star Wars themed weekends.

Announcing the opening, Sarah Ewing, General Manager LucasArts Europe at Activision “We are excited to be able to give game players in the UK the chance to be the first to take home a piece of Star Wars ™ Episode III: Revenge of the Sith…It’s a major coup for the official game to precede the movie and it will give fans a taste of what to expect from the movie.”

We’ll have more news on the release shortly...
