Rebellion To Take Star Wars Battlefront To PSP News
LucasArts confirms Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron for Sony's handheld...
By Jon WilcoxPosted: 11/05/2007
LucasArts has today confirmed the development of Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron exclusively for PSP, with production underway at UK super-studio, Rebellion.
The first spin-off title from the Star Wars Battlefront franchise (rumours abound that Free Radical Design has been signed to produce an instalment for next-generation consoles), Renegade Squadron follows the titular group of rebellion forces under the command of Han Solo, as they complete a series of secretive missions in the ongoing fight against the Empire. Revealing that two of the missions locations as the Valley of the Sith on Korriban and the remains of Alderaan, it seems that Renegade Squadron will be step away from the events of the movies, unlike the franchise's previous instalments.
LucasArts has also confirmed that multiplayer gameplay, which has been key to the success of the series to date, will feature heavily in Renegade Squadron, with 8-player Ad Hoc and 16-player Infrastructure currently being built in to the title.
Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron is scheduled for release this autumn, and has been confirmed as the only title in the Battlefront series to be released by the end of the year - a clear sign that a Star Wars Battlefront III won't be arriving until 2008 at the earliest.
