Viacom today responded to accusations made from Activision yesterday. Claiming that it was disappointed by Activision’s filing of a lawsuit and that the allegations made within it are entirely without merit, citing the fact that Activision has released 14 Star Trek games since the agreement was announced in 1998.<br><br>Viacom responded strongly to claims that they had let the franchise grow ‘stagnate and decay’, by announcing that Star Trek ‘is perhaps the greatest intellectual property franchise to emerge from television’ and included a number of statistics that only Star Trek fans would find enjoyable.<br><br>Viacom believe Activision has filed the suit in an attempt to renegotiate the terms of the original deal, believed to be somewhere in the region of $20million – of which Activision has currently paid Viacom $11million; we’ll keep an eye on the situation.
