Blitz Confirmed As Nintendo Wii Spongebob Developers News

By Jon Wilcox on 02/05/2006

Following THQ's announcement, the UK based Blitz team is confirmed as the developers of Spongebob's next adventure...

Last week THQ confirmed development on a raft of titles based on licenses from children's TV network, Nickelodeon. One of two titles announced for the Nintendo Wii, UK based Blitz Games has today confirmed that it's working on Spongebob Squarepants: Creature from the Krusty Krab on Nintendo's next-gen machine as well as versions of PlayStation2 and GameCube.

Philip Oliver, CEO and Managing Director of Blitz Games commented, "We're delighted to extend our working relationship with THQ and Nickelodeon on their most important brand. We are looking forward to producing a very high quality, fun game and Christmas 2006 Top 10 contender...This is our first game for the Nintendo Wii which makes it especially exciting for us."

Blitz Games' mature label Volatile is already working on another next-generation title for Xbox 360 and PlayStation3 so today's news will be mean the Leamington Spa based studio will have a finger in all the next-gen pies.

We'll have more news shortly...
