TVG was told that Microsoft has purchased 49 percent of the UK based developer. We knew it was going to happen but finally the deal is done!

At X02 today one of the key moments was when Microsoft announced their acquisition of the outstanding 49 percent in UK based development team Rare. <br /> <br /> Rare have only just recently departed from Nintendo and have been responsible for developing titles such as Goldenye, Perfect Dark and the new Starfox on GameCube to name a few. <br /> <br /> During the conference our Editor Chris witnessed a hilarious video presentation showing Conker, Banjo and the girl from Kameo, making their way to Xbox. <br /> <br /> With this news also came the announcements of Perfect Dark on the Xbox as well as Kameo. <br /> <br /> Microsoft has acquired the British video game developer Rare Ltd. for $375 million in cash to bolster its internal game development efforts. <br /> <br /> The announcement was expected, as Nintendo Co. Ltd. 7974.OS said last week it had sold its 49 percent stake in Rare to Microsoft. <br /> <br /> Microsoft said Rare will now develop games exclusively for its Xbox video game console. The developer will remain in Warwickshire, England, where it was founded in 1985. <br />
