Yuji Naka speaks about Nintendo's secret and the next-gen debut of Sonic at last week's Games Convention...

Sonic Team head Yuji Naka made a brief appearance at last week’s Games Convention in Leipzig; besides demonstrating Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic Gems and Sonic Rush, Naka-san also made a couple of comments that have set the net alight.

Firstly in a tight-lipped interview with nintendo-revolution.blogspot.com, Naka-san confirmed seeing the Revolution pad and claiming that “everyone will be pleasantly surprised”.

While confirmation comes that Sonic’s next-generation debut in the tentatively titled Sonic Next is well underway and is likely to be released sooner then many would think. The game was rumoured to have been shown behind closed-doors at E3 alongside something looking similar to Shenmue III; the guys at Sonic fansite, The Sonic Stadium, managed to grab a video of it at the time so make sure to check it out.

Additionally Peter Molyneux was asked by the aforementioned Revolution blogger about his opinions on the controller. Citing a line from David Sheff’s fantastic look at the Japanese giant in Game Over, Molyneux quipped “never underestimate Nintendo”.
