Speaking in Japan Yuji Naka confirms that a new Sonic game is on the way and its not Sonic Adventure DX...

Putting speculation to rest, Yuji Naka recently confirmed that a new Sonic title would be unveiled at E3; tantalisingly suggesting that the new game will be a proper Sonic game and seemingly not a continuation in the Sonic Adventure series.

Unfortunately it looks like we’ll have to wait for until E3 for more information, however we’ll do our best to find what we can.
