SEGA confirms that it will be releasing a new Sonic game next year while rumours abound of a 20th anniversary title...
SEGA's Senior Vice-President of EMEA, Jurgen Post has revealed that the publisher will be releasing a new Sonic game next year, which is yet to be announced by SEGA as its currently forecasted Sonic titles (Sonic Colours, Sonic Free Riders) are all due to land in 2010.
"We know we have Sonic and Football Manager this year, a new Total War next year, and a new Sonic and Virtua Tennis next year," Post told MCV. "These are the kind of titles that will allow us to focus on being healthy and profitable."
Interestingly enough, 2011 will be the 20th anniversary year of the original Sonic the Hedgehog. Even more interestingly, rumours of a Sonic Anniversary game have emerged from Spanish site Sonic Paradise over the last few days.
According to the site, a Spanish SEGA rep revealed that Sonic Anniversary will be a compilation of classic Sonic levels - both 2D and 3D - that are being remade for current-gen consoles.
