New Sonic title heading to the Nintendo Wii and DS exclusively...

The triumphant 2D return of Sonic may have been slightly postponed, but Wii and DS owners have more to look forward to with the announcement of Sonic Colours due later in the year.

Described as a high-speed adventure in which Sonic races through stages inspired by theme parks to rescue an alien race form the clutches of Dr Eggman, Sonic Colours blends 3D and 2D action on the Wii while boasting full support for the two screens on the DS.

Freeing the alien Wisps bestows additional powers to Sonic enabling him to create new paths through the stages, such as drilling through the ground (Yellow Drill) or speeding through the stage as a laser (Cyan Laser).  Stringing the Wisp power ups together creates a combo that increases Sonic’s boost gauge and unlocks exclusive Wisp power ups.

“The vibrant alien world of Sonic Colours enables players to race at top speed through incredible looking planets, each with their own unique visual style.” commented Gary Knight, Senior Vice President of Marketing, SEGA. “In addition to the classic Sonic game play style, the colourful new Wisp power ups offer a fresh new way of exploring these worlds and helps make Sonic faster than ever before!”

somewhat dissapointed it wont be released on the 360, Unleashed was gourgeous on the 360 and not so on the wii, the potential for having an unleashed without the warehog sections would have been sweeeet. ah well.
