The Canadian developer behind Mass Effect confirms a new studio specialising in handheld development, current at work on DS title...
The developers behind Neverwinter Nights, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic and Jade Empire along with the forthcoming epic Xbox 360 RPG, Mass Effect, today confirmed a strategic jump with the formation of a new studio focussing on handheld development.
The studio's first title, and BioWare's debut handheld title, has been confirmed for the Nintendo DS, though further details are being kept a closely guarded secret at this stage. Leading the studio is Dan Tudge, former president and founder of Exile Interactive.
"We're thrilled to have Dan leading our new handheld group," said Ray Muzyka, CEO of BioWare. "Dan has an exceptional pedigree of game development, and we're excited to have him bring his proven track record of successful games to BioWare's new DS project!"
"As always, we are committed to creating the best story-driven games in the world, and the Nintendo DS offers us an exciting new platform to engage," said Greg Zeschuk, president of BioWare. "The new project offers tremendous opportunities, and we're looking for talented and passionate developers to become part of that."

Insisting that interested applicants should have experience/passions for handheld games; experience/passion for Japanese games and familiarity with the fantasy genre - a Japanese themed RPG it seems then...

I knew one day Sonic would be in an RPG. Sonic showed everyone he has more than just speed in Sonic Battle for game boy advance, and more recently in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, where he sports very similar attacks. curious if this game will work with the kinda of moves the characters had in Sonic Battle or if they will be different and... maybe flashier either way this is going to be my next must buy title for DS

I'm a big fan of Sonic, and with the appearance of Shadow and his Chaos Control abilities, I started to think that a RPG would actually become a reality in the Sonic Universe
