Sega are set to mark Sonic's 10th birthday with the best Sonic game yet.

86 Published Sonic games to date, and finally gamers will have the chance to take home possibly one of the greatest adventure games early next year. Sonic the hedgehog is ten years old, yes it’s hard to believe that our fury little friend originated back on the Sega Mega Drive during 1991.<br><br><br>Sonic Adventure 2 was first presented at E3 in May, the game boasted similar style graphics and gameplay to that of the original, complete with a whole host of new characters and stunning fast paced action. However recent viewing has revealed that Sonic Team has generated texture quality far superior to that of the original which simply out-performs anything seen on the Dreamcast before – proving that the superior memory capacity of the machine may well impress more than the hardcore gamer.<br><br><br>As before the levels created by the team are most impressive. Several of them feature sphincter-dilating plunges from all directions. So far four characters have been confirmed to be included in the game: Sonic, Dr Eggman (Dr Robotnik), Knuckles, and those little pocket lifeforms known as Chaos. Not all of the characters will be playable, however it is rumoured that there will also be a further five ‘new’ faces to join the team. <br><br><br>The Chaos are back in Sonic Adventure 2, complete with new functions and abilities. The player will need to ensure that the Chaos, are herded together in specific spots through the game. The tiny blue creations have ‘emotions’ and the player will be able to have limited communications with the creatures to gauge problems and work towards possible solutions. Not only is it your job to save the world that Sonic lives in, but you must protect and help take care of the tiny little mites, healing them, keep them in line, and fulfilling other random tasks throughout the game.<br><br><br>Sonic Adventure 2 also sees the hero supplied with even more special attributes, one of which is a set of shoes which allows Sonic to grind certain parts of the environment in order to help him reach new areas and complete the level in a faster time. Sonic also has the opportunity to climb aboard a surfboard to ride a breaker through San Francisco, there are also plans to enable Sonic to continue his adventure deep under the ocean. </p> <br /> <br /> Sonic Team are putting a lot of effort into this title and the results so far show that off. Sega is putting everything they have at this and would like to celebrate the blue creatures tenth birthday in style with Sonic Adventure 2. The original sold well when it was first released, Sonic Team must be expecting even better numbers with this one. So far the evidence looks like this will be a great adventure.  </p>
