Raven Software's original shooter pushed into next year so it stands a chance of stepping outside of Modern Warfare 2's shadow...

With Singularity, Wolfenstein, and Modern Warfare 2 in the pipeline, Activision has almost as many shooters as it does plasticy peripherals due for release this year.

Although it seems Activision has seen a little sense and decided that the other shooters might suffer from the magnitude of Infinity Ward's return with Modern Warfare 2, confirming that Raven Software's Singularity has been pushed back into 2010.

"The level of excitement for Infinity Ward's Modern Warfare 2 coming out of E3 well exceeded our expectations and therefore we have decided to move Raven's upcoming sci-fi first person action title, Singularity, from 2009 to Q1 2010," an Activision rep informed Kotuku.

"We believe that the March quarter will provide a better opportunity to establish the new cutting-edge action IP as a 'must-have' title and clears the way for Modern Warfare 2 to dominate this holiday season."

We recently took a look at Singularity and came away quite impressed, but there's no denying a little extra time will help and although Modern Warfare 2 will still be propping up the charts in Q1 2010, Raven's original IP at least stands a better chance of not getting completely overlooked.
