Wireless Mics Head To SingStar News

The long-running karaoke franchise finally gets rid of those wires...

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has confirmed that the SingStar franchise will be going wireless from tomorrow, with the launch of wireless microphones compatible with both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 2.

The shift to wireless comes just a few weeks ahead of SingStar Pop Edition landing on PlayStation 3. Featuring songs from the likes of King of Leon, Queen, Bon Jovi, and Sugababes, there's certainly a range of tastes to found in the latest instalment.

Dave Ranyard, Executive Producer of the SingStar franchise commented, "We're excited with the community's response to Wireless Mics. Now SingStars can enjoy their experience wire-free - and test them out with the exciting launch of SingStar: Pop Edition along with hundreds of new tracks in SingStore. We're looking forward to seeing your brand-new wireless videos at My SingStar Online."

An exclusive feature of the new mics on PlayStation 3 will be 'Voice Control', which allows players to speak the title of the song they want to sing - at least it means the scramble for a DualShock 3 in between songs will disappear!
