More on this gameSCEE announce new details and tracklist for the forthcoming karaoke spin-off...
Previously announced last year, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) today announced further details on the forthcoming PS2 title ‘SingStar’.

Following on from the innovative success of EyeToy and cashing in on the nations obsessions with all things Pop Idol and Fame Academy, ‘SingStar’ thrusts players into the limelight and challenges them to exercise their vocal chords.

Developed by the same team responsible for the ‘EyeToy’ phenomenon, ‘SingStar’ includes two microphones that plug into the PS2 via a USB adaptor. The technology featured within the game analyses the player’s vocal skills, based on their pitch, tone and timing and provides feedback based on how well or badly that they’ve sung. In addition the game is compatible with EyeToy, allowing players to actually see themselves singing within the game.

The game features a variety of multiplayer modes, allowing multiple people to stand up and make a fools of themselves; we’ll have more details on these at a later date.

‘SingStar’ features an expansive track list, featuring a variety of well-known songs and artists; each track is from the original artist and includes the original music video for many of the songs.

The full track-list is as follows:

Liberty X – Just A Little

Mis-Teeq – Scandalous

The Darkness – I Believe In A Thing Called Love

A-Ha – Take On Me

Pink – Get The Party Started

Jamelia – Superstar

Motorhead – Ace Of Spades

George Michael – Careless Whisper

Avril Lavigne – Complicated

Petula Clark – Downtown

Sophie Ellis Baxtor – Murder On The Dancefloor

Daniel Bedingfield – If You’re Not The One

Carl Douglas – Kung Fu Fighting

Rick Astley – Never Gonna Give You Up

Westlife – World Of Our Own

Ricky Martin – Livin La Vida Loca

Bill Withers – Ain’t No Sunshine

Madonna – Like A Virgin

Roy Orbison – Pretty Woman

S Club – Don’t Stop Movin

With additional ‘karaoke’ titles coming from Konami and the usual collection of cash-in’s that follow, 2004 will certainly be the year of the slightly deluded Japanese crave; those who want to stay away from it should probably leave the country now.
