Foundation 9 confirms the new name for the amalgamated Californian studio...

Following last year's coming together between The Collective and Shiny Entertainment, super-developer Foundation 9 has today confirmed that the amalgamation has been given a new name: Double Helix Games.

The studio is currently working on three titles, including Konami's Silent Hill V, which is expected to hit Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 later in 2008. A second title, Harker, was also confirmed by Double Helix precursor The Collective back in 2006 - though it's unclear whether development remains on course.

"Making games is in our DNA," said studio head, Michael Saxs Persson. "The Double Helix name is perfect for our studio because it invokes the thought of two studios coming together to build a powerful new force in game development."

"We want our team members to feel like they have a certain level of ownership over their studio," said Persson. "By allowing them to generate names and logo concepts, we've given them the opportunity to steer the branding in a direction that fits their personalities."

i could complain about the many losses of creativity in streamlined production but instead i will simply say. Silne Hill origins was developed outside of japan. not only that but the american developers were demed so unsatisfactory that develpement was hugely delayed as it was moved to a diferent studio, one situated in england.
