Hugely anticipated follow-up to a 1987 classic sets sails for the Xbox...
Atari and Firaxis Games today confirmed that the hugely anticipated Sid Meierâ??s Pirates is currently in development for the Xbox, alongside the previously announced PC version.
The PC version is currently expected to release on November 16th 2004, with an Xbox version to follow afterwards in spring 2005.
The game is a sequel to the hugely popular 1987 title, which received unprecedented critical acclaim and set a standard in innovative game design for others to follow, with its unique blend of open-ended RPG mechanics, real-time adventures and thrilling action sequences.
In the follow-up, players take the leading role of a Pirate Captain in the 17th century Caribbean - amassing fortune and fame in an attempt to seize a rightful place as one of the most revered and feared pirates in history. Players test their skills as a sea captain exploring the high seas and exotic ports in a richly detailed 3-D world. As your reputation and skills grow, so will the size and quality of your crew, your ability to take on larger enemy ships, raid and plunder heavily fortified ports, and locate ancient treasure.
Sid Meierâ??s Pirates for the Xbox will include a Vs mode and take advantage of Xbox Live!, along with full 5.1 Dolby Digital surround and HDTV support.

great open play giving lots of choice on what to do next, the non linear approach makes this a true pleasure to play Maybe a bit difficult having so much choice for the muppet above

i bought sid meiers pirates for the psp and the game sucks soo much. First of all the graphics suck and the storyline is terrable. I wish i never got it because its a hunk of junk game.
