The Wii version of Civilization Revolution is currently "on hold" at Sid Meier's Firaxis studios...

Following the announcement of Civilzation Revolution last year (a game that's set to bring Sid Meier's legendary PC series to the consoles), little has been heard off the title since. It now appears that development of Civilization Revolution on Wii has been stalled for the time being.

The title was originally given a spring 2008 release window mid-way through last year for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and DS. However, a spokesperson for publishers 2K Games has told IGN that the Wii version of the game has been given an uncertain future:

"Development for the Wii version of Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution is currently on hold. We are focusing our attention on creating the best possible Civilization experience for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo DS platforms."

No further details regarding Civilization Revolution's current release date were disclosed.

He's heading up Big huge Games, which was responsible for the Rise of Nations games and an Age of Empires III expansion pack. The developer also has a couple of announced games in the pipeline.

Alpha Centauri 2 would be awesome though - could give the 4X strategy genre the kind of boost that it's in desperate need of.

This is BS...Wii should be first, and will be the best of the versions because of the user interface.
