SiN: Episode 2 On Hold News

The acquisition of Ritual Entertainment (SiN, Quake IV) by casual games giant MumboJumbo earlier in the week, might have triggered alarm bells for the small audience left waiting patiently for the second episode of SiN: Episodes to emerge.

Suggesting that the purchase would involve Ritual creating games for the casual market, as opposed to a foothold for MumboJumbo into the traditional games market, TVG sought clarification on the agreement and what it means to the future of SiN: Episode 2. Although refusing to close the door on SiN for good, it does seem as though "Emergence" will be the first and last title in the episodic series, for now at least. Commenting to TVG, Mark Cottam CEO MumboJumbo explained:

"We acquired Ritual to strengthen our development resources and intend to have the combined companies focus on the development of original IP for the casual game space. If there's an opportunity to advance the SiN franchise, we will look at that, but that will not be the primary focus of the company. We believe strongly that adding an experienced and disciplined developer like Ritual allows MumboJumbo to increase the flow of new content into the market and positively impact the quality of each new game. I wouldn't close the door on traditional games, but that's not going to be our primary focus in early 2007. The development teams at Ritual are busy working on a series of new titles scheduled for release in 2007."
