Official forums confirm the months of rumours are true - FASA Studios closes its doors...

The vultures seemed to have been circling for quite some time, but today the rumours have been confirmed: FASA Studios has closed its doors. The studio, which produced this summer's cross-platform multiplayer shooter Shadowrun, had come under fire from several camps for the direction the game took - from its lack of content, to taking a radical departure from the original Shadowrun RPG brand.

Speaking on the official Shadowrun forums, 'Mitch' - presumed to be FASA's studio head Mitch Gitelman - confirmed that yesterday was the last day for the few remaining employees at the outfit that hadn't moved to other positions within Microsoft Game Studios:

"While the rumors have been circulating forever, we chose to wait on an official announcement because we didn't want people's attention distracted from our last product, Shadowrun, a game we love."

Shadowrun had been touted pre-launch as the lead title for Microsoft's Games for Windows and Games for Windows LIVE initiative, which has seen the likes of SEGA, Vivendi, and Eidos sign up.

This is totally not like the Shadowrun RPG I played and loved. It's just a plotless free-for-all team match. Pff, I get that from other games. I guess thats what they were aiming for after all. A shadowrun game like Knights of the Old Republic would be cool.

I played the Demo on XBL Last night. It was really fun. I would give it an 8.5. I am going to go out and buy a copy of it today. SegaBoy - In regards to your pot shot on what you consider average Americans my response to you is: Grow up.

Meh this game is just a showcase for windows, for 360 fans it is fun because they don't have any pure online shooters. But the PC has had Counter strike and countless other online shooters so for pc users this game is forgettable, for 360 users this game is new to them.
