Yuji Nalka confirms a playable appearance in May for Sonic’s latest adventure...

Whilst Mario continues to slide into retirement and out of kidâ??s minds until Miyamoto-san is prepared to drag him out for Super Mario 128, the story of his one-time rival Sonic the Hedgehog is a completely different story.

After the long-term success of Sonic Heroes across the world, SEGA must be celebrating the fact that the recently released PS2/Xbox retro collection, Sonic Mega Collection Plus, found its way to the top of the UK charts earlier in the month, leading to suggestions that the spikey, blue one is still as popular as what he was back in 1991.

It doesnâ??t look as though weâ??ll have too long to wait before witnessing his latest appearance, as Sonic Team Director, Yuji Naka, has been quoted within the Official Nintendo Magazine as stating that an all-new GameCube Sonic title will make its playable introduction at E3.

No mention as to what form this will take has yet been made, and whilst Sonic has found its secondary home on the GameCube, the multi-format release of last yearâ??s Sonic Heroes does pour confusion as to what form Sonic will take next. Whilst the Sonic fanatic within us longs for a return to its roots, we just hope that if it is another Adventure game they remove the tiresome treasure-hunting aspects from previous titles.

Weâ??ll have more information soon.
