Sonic’s shadowy nemesis set to branch out on his own...
Rumours of a new Sonic title have began to circulate over the last few weeks, ahead of a perceived announcement at E3 in May.
TVG has today however received confirmation of the new game, although itâ??s probably not what youâ??re thinking and likely to leave the loyal Sonic fanbase seething.
Rather than develop a new title in the Adventure series or a sequel to last yearâ??s popular Sonic Heroes, Yuji-Naka and co at Sonic Team have decided to create a spin-off focussing on Sonicâ??s latest adversary, namely Shadow the Hedgehog.
Looking distinctly similar to previous Sonic titles in 3D, it may surprise (actually, scrap that â?“ WILL surprise) fans of the blue hedgehog to see the first trailer of the game, especially since it appears that Shadow is a gun-happy, Uzi toting, mammal that looks completely out of place in a Sonic gameâ?¦
Not that we are in the least bit partisan here in TVG Towers but we like Sonic â?“ weâ??ve grown up with him. We were there in the beginning. Weâ??ve welcomed Tails into the fold and to a certain extent, Knuckles too. So forgive us if we briefly go on a rant and say quite frankly â??Sonic Team â?“ Noooooooooooooooo!â?
Itâ??s not that we are against a Shadow game necessarily, but to include GUNS!?!? What were you thinking? One of the greatest brands in videogaming history has all of a sudden broken to the pressure of modern gaming and included weapons based solely on their current popularity and seemingly throwing away the heritage of the seriesâ?¦
Not that weâ??re ones to instantly condemn a title before weâ??ve seen much on it, however even Sonic Adventure 3 would have been better then this! The footage of classic Sonic titles featured earlier in the trailer, tantalisingly suggests that the new game will mark a return to older times â?“ but oh no...
As it stands the trailer serves a double purpose, heralding Sonic the Hedgehog entrance into the inaugural Walk of Game, which took place yesterday at Sonyâ??s Metreon Complex in Downtown San Francisco. Fellow inductees included Shiegru Miyamoto, Nolan Bushnell, Link, Mario and Halo.

Dear Shadow, I freaking love your game dude and I actually am a big fan of you(I hope you knew that).I am willing to try any game that you guys can think of.You are seriously true at whatever you do.If you must know,you are so cute on Sonic-x and don't let that Egg head fat man get you down.(By the way,I am a ) Ha HA HA!!!
