Codemasters confirms the return of Sensible's legendary footie series...
It may be one of the worst kept secrets in the videogames industry however today Codemasters triumphantly announced the return of Sensible Soccer for the Playstation2, Xbox and PC.
A legendary footie game from an equally illustrious developer, the all-new Sensible Soccer will launch in Q2 2006 and retains the lightening fast action, skilful dribbling, slide tackles and 40 yard curlers that entertained us all the first time around â?“ before your FIFAâ??s and Pro Evoâ??s this was the daddy of all footie games, just ask your older siblings if youâ??re too young to remember.
The remake features a modern take of the classic birds-eye perspective, whilst the â??distinctiveâ? new visual style features cell-shaded players with deformed heads and rather large afroâ??s â?“ brilliant.
The come back also marks the return of Jon Hare, designer and producer of the original series, who will be working alongside Codemasters heads David and Richard Darling. Having publisher Sensible Soccer for mobile phones, KuJu Entertainment will also be assisting in a managerial role for the project.
Sensible Soccer will feature multiplayer modes for up to four players (no mention of online yet) along with 50 preset competitions from across the globe. In addition a DIY Competition mode allows players to create cups, leagues and tournaments with their own rules. Players will also be able to create their own Dream Teams in the gameâ??s Custom Career Mode, with progress in the game unlocking over 100 different upgrades, both useful and comedic, to customise players including â??Five Star Skill Bonusesâ? for players and Dinner Jacket football kits!
TVG will be speaking with Jon Hare very shortly to discover more on the eagerly awaited return of a true classic.
