Internet wizards discover the code to unlock Scott Pilgrim's 'Boss Rush' mode before the official Ubisoft release...
Shrewd internet wizards have discovered the unlock code for Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game's 'Boss Rush' mode after it had become something of an enigma following the game's release on PSN earlier this month.
Hardcore fans, eager to unlock the game in its entirety, had been trawling various internet forums to figure out how the mode is unlocked until eventually the answer came from the personal blog of a developer on the game's Ubisoft Montreal team.
The code was revealed in the blog's comments section: “Hey! I think the code for Boss Rush was something like right, right, B, R1, right, right, B, R1 ... or something like that,” said a developer who worked on the project.
We've since tested this on our retail PS3 unit (substituting the B button commands – for use on Xbox 360s – with the PS3's Circle button) and can confirm that it does unlock the mode. As with the game's 'Survival Horror' mode, a code for which was revealed by Ubisoft in a pre-release trailer, players have to enter the code at the game's title screen for it to work.
TVG can reveal that Ubisoft had planned to release the 'Boss Rush' code as part of an upcoming “newsletter incentive” for the game, although the internet wizards have effectively now beaten them to it.
The blog's comments board also brings news of the game's sixth unlockable character. This, it seems, will be delivered through a downloadable pack for the game, although details on the DLC are unclear at this time.
“There will be a downloadable pack with a new character and maybe the extra game modes if they aren't unlockable right now, but i'm pretty sure that will be it,” commented Stephane Boutain, the blog's operator and Lead 2D Artist on the project at Ubisoft Montreal.
