Al Pachino’s contemporary classic heading to home consoles; first details inside…

Vivendi-Universal today announced the development of a home console adaptation of Al Pachinoâ??s contemporary classic Scarface. In a complex world filled with excess and greed, players take the role of Tony Montana, one of the most ruthless gangsters ever depicted on film.

The game is currently in development at Radical Games and scheduled for release in Autumn 2005. Highly acclaimed screenwriter, David McKenna, has been drafted in to provide an original event-driven storyline for the game, which will lead players through a sordid underworld of crime.

Essentially based as a third-person action/shooter, the game is set to authentically recreate the historical time period of the film, touching on politics, news items and events of the day. Players will travel through the steamy, often violent streets of Miami, the eerie islands of the Florida Keys, the Bahamas and various other locations; whilst they interact with a world full of seedy and dangerous characters to procure information, negotiate business deals, smuggle contraband and avoid rivals and the DEA in a mission to rebuild a fallen empire.

Weâ??ll have more information soon.
