Coming a year after the delay announcement, Scarface will ship a year after it was originally intended; but what's happened to next-gen...

Originally slated for release during Autumn 2005, Vivendi-Universal made the decision to delay Scarface: The World is Yours almost a year ago, and we've hardly seen anything of it since. In an attempt to soften the blow of the delay announcement, VU Games confirmed that as a result Radical Entertainment had included next-generation consoles within the development.

Today an update on VU's publishing division, Sierra Entertainment, provides a hint of when we might actually be able to expect the game, with an updated Fall/Autumn 2006 released penned in. Bizarrely the listing only makes reference to the Xbox, Playstation2 and PC versions, leaving us to question exactly what's happened to the planned next-generation versions.

From what we can gather it seems as though the next-generation versions may have been put on hold, in order to allow Radical to focus squarely on maximising the true potential of the current gen formats and to ensure Scarface: The World is Yours makes an impact with its debut.

But of course that's just our take on it; rest assured Scarface fans TVG has contacted VU Games for a comment, and will hopefully receive clarification on the subject soon.
