LucasArts heap further misery on the fans with yet another cancellation of a fan favourite…

Having previously cancelled the planned sequel to â??Full Throttleâ??, LucasArts today heaped further misery on the hands of their long-term fans, with the confirmation that they have canned the forthcoming return of another loveable duo in â??Sam & Max: Freelance Policeâ??.

Originally scheduled for release in spring 2004, the call certainly comes late in the day; however itâ??s believed the decision was made based upon the current hardships facing adventure titles on the PC format.

In a brief statement to the press, Acting General Manager and VP of Finance and Operations, Mike Nelson stated:

"After careful evaluation of current market place realities and underlying economic considerations, we've decided that this was not the appropriate time to launch a graphic adventure on the PC"

Itâ??s certainly a sad time for the long-term Lucasarts fans out there desperate to see the return of some of their fondest franchises; letâ??s just hope weâ??ve not seen the very last of them.
