Volition Throws Down Saints Row 2 Gauntlet News

Set for release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 later in the year, it seems that Volition's expectations are high for its open-world gangsta sequel, Saints Row 2.

The game, which returns players to the mean streets of Stilwater over a decade after the explosive cliff-hanger of the original, is set to include a raft of new gameplay features, together with flying vehicles, customised cribs, vehicles, and even swaggers.

Despite establishing the franchise two years ago on Xbox 360, there's little doubt that the follow up will be facing a lot of competition from the latest in the godfather of crime-filled sandbox series: Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto IV. That doesn't seem to be worrying Producer Greg Donovan however, who at a recent sneak peek preview event in London, announced that, "we wouldn't be releasing this if we didn't think it would be competitive."

He added that, "we've had a leg up over some of the competition."
