The Green Hill Zone and Carnival Park set to offer an alternative to Roland Garros and Wimbledon...
SEGA Europe has today confirmed the development of SEGA Superstars Tennis, with a multi-platform release in early 2008 courtesy of recently recruited Foundation 9 subsidiary, Sumo Digital.
Making an appearance on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, Wii, Nintendo DS and Wii, SEGA Superstars Tennis is set to feature around fifteen SEGA characters from the likes of Sonic the Hedgehog, Samba (Samba di Amigo), and Ulala (Space Channel 5), with match environments as diverse as the Green Hill Zone and Carnival Park. The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions are both confirmed to include online multiplayer functionality.
"SEGA Superstars Tennis has the potential to be one of the most fun and accessible sports games ever." commented Gary Knight, European Marketing Director. "The fantastic Sumo Digital team has had access to a wealth of SEGA IP and you'll be surprised at the gaming icons that will be making an appearance!"
Sumo Digital has previously worked on PSP ports of several home console titles, including TOCA 2 and Virtua Tennis 3, making it strange that a version for Sony's handheld is omitted from today's announcement.

I am sure that those Shenmue fans who aren?t big SEGA fans can ignore this game if it is not going to have any noticeable Shenmue related stuff. Regards-Alimn

Let?s don?t make excuses by saying Ryo was not ? or was ? You can simply make a cartoony version of Ryo or at least you can add some tiny Shenmue related stuff to this game, anyway at least you?ve considered Ryo, so thank you for this but be sure that many Shenmue fans who aren?t SEGA fans can ignore this game from now. Regards-Alimn

No Ryo cuz he wasn?t cartoony enough?, so what are those The House Of The Dead stuff or I am sure that Gilius won?t be cartoony enough in SEGA?s upcoming Golden Axe games too! Let?s don?t make excuses by saying Ryo was not ? or was ? You can simply make a cartoony version of Ryo or at least you can add some tiny Shenmue related stuff to this game. Anyway at least you?ve considered Ryo, so thank you for this but be sure that many Shenmue fans who aren?t SEGA fans can ignore this game from now. Regards-Alimn

I'd love to see them continue to make SEGA Superstars games, but we don't care if characters like Ryo clash, we just want them in dammit. Ristar, Vectorman, Joe Musashi, Segata Sanshiro!
