Sega announce the inclusion of a rally supercar quartet for the long awaited return of the 90s classic...

More avid TVG readers will know how nostalgic we are about the Sega Rally series, evidenced by our PSP preview a few weeks ago. At the time, everyone in the TVG office was very excited to see the inclusion of the Lancia and Toyota Celica cars from the original arcade game. Now Sega has revealed a quartet of cars that'll have petrol-heads hot under the collar with anticipation.

For the discerning rally driver there's the Mitsubishi Concept-X. Don't be fooled by this vehicles 2.0 litre engine. Firstly, Mitsubishi are well known by enthusiasts for pulling the most horses out of smaller engines. Secondly it's turbo-charged, which helps really, doesn't it? Not convinced? Okay, how about this: its design is inspired by a jet fighter.

Those with a fetish for ergonomic rally design should look no further than the McRae Enduro (a concept car which, as the name would suggest, comes straight from the mind of the rallying legend himself). This beast was designed to take part in the most abusive rallies in the world. It laughs in the face of the Dakar rally and all number of Baja events.

There's also the Hummer H3 SUV. Yes, I know, we thought that to - what's a sports utility vehicle doing in a rally game? Lest we forget, however, that the Hummer SUV is modelled after an army vehicle which is bullet-proof, has self inflating tyres and was built to withstand a nuclear bomb. Yep, I'm thinking it can probably do rallying. What's more, General Motors gave Sega Racing Studios' Lead Car Artist Keith Burden permission to tweak the design specifically for Sega Rally.

Finally, adrenaline junkies will appreciate the inclusion of the RUF Rt 12, which is one of the fastest cars in the game with an impressive top-end of over 200mph. It sounds like it's going to be an almost Gran Turismo-esque showroom for Sega Rally, available on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PSP and PC on September 28th.

none of the original game is on this [#@!?]
no arcade game, no deep handling gameplay, no penalty for crashing, no equilibrium between cars, cheap and frustrating AI instead of only-obstacle-checkpoint cars, no thrilling experience, no sense of weight, lack on reward, awful music...

This game is far better reviewed than I would have expected, fun, lacks damage, and finally a splitscreen. Also someone doesnt think its any good, so you can pick it up preowned for £20

Been enjoying this a lot. I think it compares very well with the PS3 offering; it's a different take on the same game, designed with the target platform in mind. The loading times great a bit though.

Good game with nice graphics. Worth buying but lacking a bit in depth. Very similar to GBA top gear rally.

Can you SHIFT GEARS or is it all AT? The only car setup option is Tire Selection?
