The TOCA and DiRT publisher confirms the acquisition of the Solihull studio behind SEGA Rally...

After a week of speculation, Codemasters has today confirmed the acquisition of the Solihull-based SEGA Racing Studio, which closed its doors at the beginning of April.

News of the deal was made to development-orientated mag, Develop, with Codemasters explaining that the acquisition was 'an agreement that facilitates accelerated growth' of the Britsoft outfit.

In a statement, Codemasters CEO Rod Cousens said: "In seizing this opportunity, we have created additional resources to escalate our plans in the racing segment...We hope to welcome more than 40 people to the company and we have enjoyed the full co-operation of our friends at Sega in making this happen. It is good business for Codemasters, an exciting prospect and there will be more to come as we are not content to stand still."

It's currently unclear what the new name for the Racing Studio will be.

none of the original game is on this [#@!?]
no arcade game, no deep handling gameplay, no penalty for crashing, no equilibrium between cars, cheap and frustrating AI instead of only-obstacle-checkpoint cars, no thrilling experience, no sense of weight, lack on reward, awful music...

This game is far better reviewed than I would have expected, fun, lacks damage, and finally a splitscreen. Also someone doesnt think its any good, so you can pick it up preowned for £20

Been enjoying this a lot. I think it compares very well with the PS3 offering; it's a different take on the same game, designed with the target platform in mind. The loading times great a bit though.

Good game with nice graphics. Worth buying but lacking a bit in depth. Very similar to GBA top gear rally.

Can you SHIFT GEARS or is it all AT? The only car setup option is Tire Selection?
