"Unique action adventure experience" set for late 2012 release...
SEGA job ads for a new studio based in the West Midlands of England have revealed an as yet unannounced “action adventure experience” as well as indications that platform holders may be set to release next-generation consoles by the end of next year.
“The boutique studio is SEGA’s third UK based studio and is set up to focus its development resources exclusively for next generation platforms,” read the job ads, both of which are for programming positions. “The team currently has a project underway which is due for release late 2012 which is a unique action adventure experience.”
Recent SEGA job ads for its UK studios have been quite open about the fact that the publisher is ramping-up into next-generation development. A position at Creative Assembly even hinted towards work on 'next next' generation consoles.
These latest ads are of course a touch ambiguous – after all, “next generation platforms” could merely be referring to Nintendo's Wii U console, which may arrive as early as next summer according to previous indications from SEGA's Alan Pritchard.
Nonetheless, it's certainly fair to speculate that this West Midlands studio is being built with the PlayStation 4/NeXtbox in mind, and this wouldn't be the first time that a 2012 release has been linked to Sony or Microsoft's next-gen systems.
