It looks like Brash Entertainment, a specialist publisher of film licensed games, is to close its doors today...

It seems Brash Entertainment is to close its doors for business today not much more than a year after the company was founded. The games publisher, which specialises in film tie-in projects, is said to have suffered from poor sales figures and a shortfall on investments.

This is according to a Variety report (which cites "several sources"), although we can't say that we're surprised by the news. When the publisher laid off 20 staff last week and could only confirm two titles still in development (of a previously announced seven), things began to look bleak for the company.

This had followed the resignation of Thomas Tull, the once Co-Founder of Brash and Vice-President of the Board, who was involved in shoring up private equity investment for the company from Wall Street.

It's thought that without Tull's involvement, Brash has struggled to secure the $400 million of investment that it had boasted as a fledgling publisher last year.

Brash has previously released three games (Alvin and the Chipmunks, Space Chimps, and Jumper: Griffin's Story) but leaves a number of games in its pipeline including a SAW game, Six Flags Fun Park, Tale of Desperaux, Prison Break, Night at the Museum 2, Clash of the Titans, 300, and an as yet unannounced Superman game under development at Factor 5.

What will come of these projects following Brash's closure is unclear at this point, although we're pretty interested to see whether those SAW and Superman games get picked up by a publisher.
