EA Prepares To Scrum For Rugby 08 News

The Webb Ellis Cup comes to PlayStation2 and PC in time for this year's Rugby World Cup...

Rugby 08

Electronic Arts has today confirmed an end of July release for Rugby 08 on PlayStation2 and PC, as a prelude to the 2007 Rugby World Cup due to kick off in France later in the year.

Developed by EA Canada in Vancouver, the game is the latest instalment in the biennial series, and will feature a number of improvements to the various mechanics of the oval-ball sport, including a more refined kicking system, and greater control over the scrum and line out set pieces.

"The 2007 Rugby World Cup unites rugby fans from around the world and our game, EA SPORTS Rugby 08, celebrates this passion by capturing all of the national rivalries in-game, enabling fans to play as their favorite teams from qualification right through to the championship final," said Tristan Jackson, Lead Producer on Rugby 08.

Joining Player of the Year and New Zealand All Blacks Captain, Richie McCaw, on the box will be a number of localised cover stars, including England's Mark Cuerto for the UK (surely a move that gamers in Wales, Scotland, and Ireland will no doubt rant a bit about), Mauro and Mirko Bergamasco in Italy, and Australia's Stirling Mortlock.

the ai on defense just lets the other team run the whole distance of the field. if i kick, the fullback will run it all the way back fifty percent of the time. you lose fifty percent of lineouts, and its impossible to get anywhere after a set peice
