Sierra Lifts Lid On The Bourne Conspiracy News

By Jon Wilcox on 26/06/2007

After two years in hiding, Jason Bourne's videogame debut is finally pencilled in for a summer 2008 release...

Having signed the licensing deal back in the heady days of 2005, Vivendi Games has today finally lifted the lid on Robert Ludlum's The Bourne Conspiracy, based on the author's acclaimed Jason Bourne series.

Currently in development at High Moon Studios (Darkwatch) for Xbox 360 and PlayStation3, Robert Ludlum's The Bourne Conspiracy - as opposed to anybody else's Bourne Conspiracy - sees players unravel the story of amnesiac undercover agent as he tries to figure out who he actually is.

"Robert Ludlum's best-selling spy novel and blockbuster film adaptation have awed millions with riveting, unforgettable fiction," said Al Simone, senior vice president, global marketing for Sierra Entertainment. "For the first time ever, players will be able to experience the shadowy world of expert assassin Bourne, who continues to find himself plagued by splintered nightmares from his former life."

"With Robert Ludlum's The Bourne Conspiracy we are not just basing a game on Ludlum's franchise, we are building upon the universe he introduced with The Bourne Identity," said Peter Della Penna, president of High Moon Studios. "High Moon has collaborated closely with Mr. Ludlum's estate holders, the guardians of his creative vision, since the day we began to develop the game. The goal of that collaboration has been to create a videogame that takes inspiration from known elements within the Bourne universe, elements that have captivated more than a quarter of a billion people around the world, with original story and game play that establishes a signature Jason Bourne game experience. Robert Ludlum's The Bourne Conspiracy is our installment to the series and is meant to reside on its own within the Bourne entertainment library."

Pencilled in for a loose release sometime during Summer 2008, Robert Ludlum's The Bourne Conspiracy is no doubt an attempt by Vivendi to eat away at Ubisoft's acclaimed Tom Clancy license, which has split into four distinct franchised in the last few years.

This game is exactly as good as I thought it would be. I did'nt expect it to be overwhelming but expected a solid action/adventure game.

The Bourne Conspiracy is one of the best action games I played in a long time beside Uncharted Drakes Fortune. Bourne Conspiracy puts action games at new heights. If you own a Playstation 3 or Xbox 360 pick this one up

The choreography behind the fight scenes is pretty amazing, love the way the camera swooshes up close.

The demo is really good, apart from the driving around Paris - that's pretty dreadful.

Robert Ludlum RIP (1927 - 2001). Doubtful that his "collaboration" was very active.
