Rise Of The Argonauts Dated For UK [UPDATE] News

A belated launch of February for Britain, two months after the game arrives in North America and Europe...

Codemasters has today confirmed that Rise of the Argonauts will arrive in the UK on February 6th, nearly two months after the Liquid Entertainment title launches in North America, Europe, and Australia.

An action-RPG that focuses on the story of Jason and the Argonauts, the game follows the legend of the Golden Fleece, as players fight alongside great warriors like Hercules and Achilles. Liquid Entertainment's past is steeped in the RTS genre, having developed Dungeons & Dragons: Dragonshard for Atari, and Lord of the Rings: War of the Ring for Sierra Entertainment, so it'll be interesting to see how well they pull off an action RPG.

The publisher is yet to explain why there's such a delay for UK gamers, especially when US players can explore the panoramas and epic battles from today. Rise of the Argonauts appears on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

[UPDATE] Codemasters has released a statement regarding the delay of Rise of the Argonauts in the UK:

"It was quite literally a retail issue. We tried to get the game into retail here in the UK in line with everybody else, but they simply could not offer us the shelf space that the game deserved at such a busy time within the retail sector. As a result, we decided to hold back the UK launch of the game until we could get the shelf space we believe the title deserves."
