Rumours of their demise were premature as Midway San Diego takes over the development from Stainless Steel Studios...
Midway has today announced that the new developer of RTS Rise & Fall: Civilisations at War will be Midway San Diego, which had been rumoured to have closed at the same time as the company's Australian studio at the end of 2005. Following confirmation that development of the game was set to continue, Midway have also announced that Rise & Fall is expected to be released in June 2006. Original developer Stainless Steel Studios closed its doors in November 2005 leaving the future of Rise & Fall hanging in the balance.
Besides being an RTS title Rise & Fall features a Hero Mode, which will allow gamers to take control of a Hero character in third-person and fight alongside their troops during the battle, with the aim being to turn the tide of the conflict.
We'll have more news on Rise & Fall: Civilisation (including the second part of the game's Developer Diary) shortly...
