TVG brings the scraps of RE5 information together into a tidy pile...
This week saw the first teaser trailer for Resident Evil 5 from Capcom, and although it came as no surprise that the game would be released on Sonyâ??s PlayStation3 the fact that it will also be coming to Xbox 360 will have made more than one person sit up in their chair. Whilst information concerning the next instalment of the hugely successful title is scarce, we thought that weâ??d bring together the various bits of information together â?“ a Resident Evil 5 scrap book, if you will.
The current issue of the Japanese publication Famitsu features an interview with Resident Evil 5 Producer Jun Takeuchi in which he confirms that a similar control system to Resident Evil 4 will be implemented with the over-the-shoulder camera also making its return. In the interview (and referring to rumours that the main character seen in the RE5 teaser trailer is Chris Redfield), Takeuchi-san said that if the game did have a
Looking at the teaser trailer for the game, there are several interesting points of note not least that the environment seems to be a settlement in a desert, possibly indicating that the location for Resident Evil 5 will be North Africa or the Arabian Peninsula â?“ although this has of course yet to be confirmed by Capcom. The trailer also seems to suggest that the game will feature stark differences in light conditions with typical dark moody interiors as well as blisteringly bright exteriors, which will certainly be a new feature in the franchise.
Continuing with the teaser trailer, it appears that the enemies in the game are no longer Romero style slow stomping characters; instead it shows the shadows of several bad guys running down the narrow alleyways of the settlement in a similar fashion to the zombies of recent films such as 28 Days Later and the remake of Dawn of the Dead. Which brings another question to mind: are they zombies or Plagas infected humans?
After the trailer finishes we have to admit that our anticipation for the game is already very high, especially as many questions have yet to be answered, including a release year for the game (even a release period would be too much to ask from Capcom at the moment) however you can be assured that as soon as we get more information on what is sure to be one of the biggest games of the next-generation.

With the emphasis on action in Resident Evil 5, clunky controls are a bit of a problem. I'll agree they are a trademark charatceristic of the series, but if Resident Evil is headed further down a Gears of War route, then it needs to be looked at.
Personally I'd rather they kept the controls and toned down the action in place of some added significance on the puzzle count...

What a load of abject [#@!?]e, "the clunky controls can be excused" theyre supposed to be clunky genius its how the resident evil games are meant to feel. As are the menus. I for one as a die hard fan would be seriously pissed off if the controls and menus were changed. fair point about the puzzles tho, im guessing they were removed to allow for coop play.

But surely a good story is like the icing on a cake? I enjoyed RE4 more than 5, because I felt the intrigue of the series heading into new territory. By comparison RE5 felt completely generic.

"if no-one likes this game because of the story line get a book" then by your logic..we should just play space invaders!
