Record breaking revenue for the Japanese publisher with a strong forthcoming year predicted...

Strengthened by the success of Resident Evil 5 and Street Fighter IV, which shifted over 4 million and 2 million units respectively, Capcom today posted its highest sales revenue for the past three fiscal years.

Net sales for the fiscal year ended March 31st 2009 stood at 91.88 billion yen (£616.25 million), representing an increase of 10.6% year-on-year. Operating income for the period increased by 11.6% compared to last year to 14.62 billion yen (£98.06 million), resulting in a net income of 8.06 billion yen (£54.06 million), an increase of 3.3% compared year-on-year.

Looking ahead to the next fiscal year ended March 31st 2010, Capcom forecasts continued growth with net sales likely to reach 95.00 billion yen (£637.17 million); operating income of 15.50 billion yen (£103.96 million) and net income of 8.50 billion yen (£57.01 million). Such forecasts will result in Capcom's highest sales revenue over the past four consecutive years.

With Lost Planet 2, Dead Rising 2, and Monster Hunter 3 in the works it certainly appears to be a good time to be a Capcom shareholder.

I'll agree they are a trademark charatceristic of the series, but if Resident Evil is headed further down a Gears of War route, then it needs to be looked at. Personally I'd rather they kept the controls and toned down the action in place of some added significance on the puzzle count...

As are the menus. I for one as a die hard fan would be seriously pissed off if the controls and menus were changed. fair point about the puzzles tho, im guessing they were removed to allow for coop play.
