Capcom once again prove the videogame definition of “exclusive”, as Resident Evil moves away from Nintendo exclusivity…

When Capcom announced the development of five titles exclusively for the GameCube in 2002, it hardly came as a surprise to learn that â??exclusiveâ? doesnâ??t necessarily have the same definition within the videogames industry as it does in the dictionary.

Following on from the release of Viewtiful Joe on the Playstation2, and confirmation that both its sequel and Killer 7 would be heading to the platform, TVG has today learnt that the biggest title in that original line-up has been confirmed for a Playstation2 release.

Yes Resident Evil is no longer exclusive to Nintendo, as today Capcom confirmed that Resident Evil 4 would be released for the Playstation2 before the end of 2005. Exactly how accurate the conversion will be is still in doubt, given that the title is becoming something of a demonstration as to just how powerful the GameCube can be when used to the full extent.

In a statement, Capcom announced that the decision was in response to the sheer demand demonstrated by PS2 owners; however itâ??s a fact that the move to Nintendo has hardly catalysed the franchise and it was always expected that a major Resident Evil title would be returning to the Playstation format soon.

Weâ??ll have more on Resident Evil 4 soon.
