The UK-based publisher confirms a deal with Epic Games to license UE3 for a 'groundbreaking FPS' due late 2009...

Coming a little late compared to some of its contemporaries, Ignition Entertainment has today confirmed that it has signed a deal with Epic Games to license the company's Unreal Engine 3.

Following the likes of SEGA, Electronic Arts, NCsoft, Capcom, and Eidos to name but a few that have signed up to utilise UE3, Ignition's deal with Epic is revealed to revolve around an unannounced 'groundbreaking' FPS currently in development at the publisher's Florida studio.

Little is known about the project, although in today's statement Ignition has staked it claim to "creating something fresh and exciting to one of the industry's core genres". So far, the game is pencilled in to arrive on unspecified platforms in late 2009.

"Epic's Unreal Engine 3 is an extremely versatile engine," said Jeremy Stieglitz, Game Director and Lead Designer, Ignition Florida. "So when deciding on technology for Ignition Florida's first next-generation video game, there was no questioning that Unreal Engine 3 is the way to go."

"Ignition Florida is pushing Unreal Engine 3 in a very exciting direction, especially in terms of environmental capabilities," said Mark Rein, Vice President, Epic Games. "These guys have the chops to create some remarkable games, and we have complete faith in their technical and creative abilities."

To the person talking about salaries. I work there and the devs make around 100k and the cost of living here is really low. So if you think thats not enough there is something wrong with you.

Well if they did pay well, I would probably be there too... But they think that by being located in Gainsville FL, they can pay ridiculous salaries... Not everyone there is a student living in dorms or with roomates...
