Ubisoft confirms that the sword-slashing sequel will only work with MotionPlus...

The original Red Steel was born out of a strong creative collaboration between Ubisoft and Nintendo, a relationship Ubisoft is putting a lot of faith behind if

In a Nintendo Power article, Ubisoft's Jason Vandenberghe reveals that the forthcoming sequel will only be playable with the MotionPlus peripheral.

"It's a huge risk. We have no idea what the penetration rate for Wii MotionPlus will be. We assume high. We would like it to be high,"claimed Vandenberghe. "I would love to say to you that it'll be compatible with just a regular controller, but the gameplay simply isn't there without MotionPlus. That core experience just isn't there without it."

A risky move for sure, but one that should ensure Red Steel 2 does at least realise the concept more fully then the flawed original.

I think we'll find it's not a very good game, though if they market it aggressively it will probably do a million.

Maybe if Capcom released more quality RE titles, instead of on rails crap or Wii Editions of old games like RE4.

I also would be more interested to see Red Steel in the same style as the last game, but wish they took the time to develop good visuals this time around and used the Wii's full power.

Cel Shaded is cool, I'm just not expecting much either

Hopefully, Red Steel 2 will deliver on the promises of its predecessor...but as it's a core game on Wii, I'm sure it will be in the shadow of endless party games...and Wii Fit!
