'Significant business alignment' pushes both titles into late spring/summer 2009...

Following confirmation of several studio closures, THQ has today confirmed that two of its early 2009 titles, Darksiders: Wrath of War and Red Faction: Guerrilla, have been delayed.

News of the delays come as the company undergoes a 'significant business alignment', focusing on the release of 'fewer, higher quality titles'.  Red Faction: Guerrilla, currently in development at Volition Inc. ,is pushed back into an April-June 2009 window, with Darksiders: Wrath of War delayed until July-September 2009.

The reorganisation of THQ comes as the publisher acknowledges lower than expected sales of Disney/Pixar's Wall-E, and the cancellation of several unannounced titles.

Brian Farrell, THQ president and CEO. "We are aligning our business to be more competitive in key consumer segments and address the current business environment. We expect the combination of a much more focused and competitive product line with a more efficient cost structure to put THQ back on the path to growth and profitability in fiscal year 2010."

On a brighter note, Volition Inc.'s Saints Row 2, which scored a 9/10 here on TVG, sold two million units in the first fortnight after launch.

In on the multiplayer beta...I honestly don't get how anyone could have fun with it. I loved the first two Red Factions, so this one is (multuiplayer, anyway) a huge disappointment for me. Completely unfun.

It was alright - the second game was better. Still not sure about the switch to 3rd person from the original first-person.
