In their third quarter financials, THQ confirms that Volition will be returning to their roots...
Currently working away on their sequel to the 2006 open-world gangsta game Saints Row, THQ has today confirmed that Volition Software will follow-up with Red Faction 3.
Originally announced during a conference call last November, Red Faction 3 will see the Illinois developer return to the franchise after a break of over five years. The series was renowned for it's over the top destructible environments (the so-called 'GeoMod' technology) and fast-paced gameplay, with THQ's CEO Brian Farrell teasing that the third instalment will continue in the same vein in a way that apparentely only the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 can...oh, and high spec PCs too.
Pencilled in for the broad release period of fiscal 2009 (April 1st 2008 to March 31st 2009), THQ is expected to revealed further information in the coming weeks.

In on the multiplayer beta...I honestly don't get how anyone could have fun with it. I loved the first two Red Factions, so this one is (multuiplayer, anyway) a huge disappointment for me. Completely unfun.

It was alright - the second game was better. Still not sure about the switch to 3rd person from the original first-person.
